The Oriel Maths Department
INNOVATIVE, MOTIVATED AND SUCCESSFUL
The Oriel Maths team currently consists of 11 full-time and 4 part-time teachers with an HLTA specifically for supporting in Maths lessons and providing intervention. We are lucky to have 8 purpose built full size maths classrooms all with interactive whiteboard, projector and teacher’s PC. Additionally smaller seminar rooms are available for Sixth Form lessons. The School is a modern building with lots of natural light and provides an environment conducive to positive and productive learning.
The Maths teachers at Oriel aim to provide every student in our care with the opportunity to master the fundamentals of number in order that they become abstract thinkers and independent problem solvers. We work
closely with other Faculties in the school to ensure that skills, knowledge and vocabulary are widely transferable and consistent.
Our curriculum ensures that students understand basic concepts very thoroughly and then build on these skills throughout the year so that they gain cumulative knowledge. We spend longer on topics so that students
become fluent in them.
We are looking to appoint someone who…...
• Is an excellent teacher with the ability to stretch, inspire, enthuse and engage learners,
• Will lead in providing first-class teaching and learning for our students
• Has experience of teaching across Key Stage 3 and 4
• Has either experience of or a desire to teach Mathematics/Further Mathematics at Key Stage 5.
We have excellent support for ECTs and would welcome applications from early career teachers who would like to grow and develop in an innovative and forward thinking department; or more experienced teachers looking for their first promotion. Oriel actively encourages CPD throughout the school with a comprehensive program for teachers at all stages of their careers.
